Great set up that kinda falls apart once you figure out what really happened to the wife。

i am glad that i watched the movie first so i knew what to expect and i didn't even think of stopping my reading。 the first half is a bit drawn out, just a wife and a husband complaining about their marriage and, oh! the missing wife。 i understand why people don't entirely like the book but i was looking forward to the resolution and kept reading。 the second half is WAY better than the first and overall, i would recommend this book to people。 i would probably also tell them to watch the movie fi i am glad that i watched the movie first so i knew what to expect and i didn't even think of stopping my reading。 the first half is a bit drawn out, just a wife and a husband complaining about their marriage and, oh! the missing wife。 i understand why people don't entirely like the book but i was looking forward to the resolution and kept reading。 the second half is WAY better than the first and overall, i would recommend this book to people。 i would probably also tell them to watch the movie first so they don't get discouraged through the long first half。 the characters were well constructed and, although maybe you don't root for a specific character, you don't find them boring。 rating: 3。8/5only bc that first half wasn't the most riveting 。。。more

Wow – just wow。 This was easily one of the best books I have ever read! Normally when I read a book slowly, it’s because I’m losing interest。 But I read this book slowly simply because I wanted to savour it。 The plot intrigued me, and I did speed my way through the last part, but I also couldn’t bear for it to end (and what an ending it is, by the way – bittersweet and completely believable, leaving you with a mixture of emotions。)The writing is brilliant; paced perfectly, and driven by the voic Wow – just wow。 This was easily one of the best books I have ever read! This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers。 To view it, click here。 Decent book。 Definitely a page-turner。 I guess it didn't appeal to my weird need to read "serious" books。 The book really did feel original, but the characters didn't at all, they are just so stereotypical: type A Amy, lazy husband Nick, busy mom Noelle, rich snob Desi, trailer trash Greta, perfect mom Maureen。 So all in all, glad I read it but won't necessarily be recommending to friends。 Decent book。 Definitely a page-turner。 I guess it didn't appeal to my weird need to read "serious" books。 The book really did feel original, but the characters didn't at all, they are just so stereotypical: type A Amy, lazy husband Nick, busy mom Noelle, rich snob Desi, trailer trash Greta, perfect mom Maureen。 So all in all, glad I read it but won't necessarily be recommending to friends。 。。。more

The plot twist wasn’t as jaw dropping as i expected it to be but my standards are very high 😂。 I loved that it wasn’t written for teens and it’s very interesting

I expected so much more from this。 Nothing particularly surprised me, which should be the goal of a thriller - at least for me。 I can see how a reader might be intrigued by some parts of this story, but I mostly found it boring。

The characters in this story are SO selfish which makes it hard to connect to any of them most of the time but Flynn's writing style kept me reading。 I loved Sharp Objects so I had to read this next as it has so many reviews。 While I think Sharp Objects is a much better book overall, this was still interesting enough to keep me returning。 As other reviewers have stated, the second half of the book is better than the first。 I can't wait to read the author's other book, Dark Places。 The characters in this story are SO selfish which makes it hard to connect to any of them most of the time but Flynn's writing style kept me reading。 I loved Sharp Objects so I had to read this next as it has so many reviews。 While I think Sharp Objects is a much better book overall, this was still interesting enough to keep me returning。 As other reviewers have stated, the second half of the book is better than the first。 I can't wait to read the author's other book, Dark Places。 。。。more

The novel would only benefit from being 20% shorter: the tension would be greater and the pace faster。 I often found myself rushing the author to just know the ending and leave the book for good。

sometimes i feel bad that gillian flynn spent 3 years crafting an intensely dislikeable, manipulative protagonist for my only takeaway from the book to be that i want to marry amy dunne。 but then i remember that she's really sexy and actually that is okay。 sometimes i feel bad that gillian flynn spent 3 years crafting an intensely dislikeable, manipulative protagonist for my only takeaway from the book to be that i want to marry amy dunne。 but then i remember that she's really sexy and actually that is okay。 。。。more

This was just supposed to be a cheap thrill(er), but I ended up loving it so much。 I loved the complexity of Amy's character; she is bizzare but also a bit relatable! (it isn't just me, right? Do I need to see a therapist ASAP?) It's like the author takes the insecurities that a lot of people have and magnifies it to an extreme state。 She transports us to an extreme case scenario where anything is possible。Another thing I enjoyed about the book was how meta it was。 There were several remarks on This was just supposed to be a cheap thrill(er), but I ended up loving it so much。 I loved the complexity of Amy's character; she is bizzare but also a bit relatable! 。。 。。。more

I was expecting quite a lot going into this book, it being so called “terrifying” “sinister” and “mercilessly entertaining”。 Unfortunately I found none of these to be true。 From first page to last I found this book boring and very easy to put down。 With characters having no depth there was no connection to be had between reader and storyline。 Amy Dunne prides herself on “not being like other girls” and Nick Dunne is the very typical “I’m a simple guy doing my best” and still failing miserably。 D I was expecting quite a lot going into this book, it being so called “terrifying” “sinister” and “mercilessly entertaining”。 Unfortunately I found none of these to be true。 From first page to last I found this book boring and very easy to put down。 With characters having no depth there was no connection to be had between reader and storyline。 Amy Dunne prides herself on “not being like other girls” and Nick Dunne is the very typical “I’m a simple guy doing my best” and still failing miserably。 During gone girl I felt no desire for Amy to be found。 Sadly I was left unsurprised and unsatisfied。 。。。more
